However, the texts you use are not really examples of convert or die. These are examples of people who voluntarily lived in the Jewish covenant community, and broke the laws of that community. I believe there is a difference. However, let me take a moment if I can and address the specific texts you quoted.
First, let us consider your quote from 2 Chronicles 15. This text first and foremost addresses the punishment of persons who were in covenant, and when they had the chance to renew the covenant they refused. Clearly by that refusal they indicated either their rejection of God or their acceptance of false gods. The community had laws and they clearly enforced the laws in place. This is a case of punishment. Also, just a side note, this text does not directly indicate they were acting on their own volition.
The text in Deuteronomy you quoted is also an example of a person who was in covenant already and then rebelled against that covenant. In regards to the destruction of the town, two possible explanations exist. First, possibly the town shared responsibility for not standing up to those who tried to persuade them from breaking the covenant. Secondly, and more likely, it was an indication thatt the towns people followed the lead of those false teachers. If that is the case this is not an example of evangelism by the sword, but rather punishment for breaking the covenant. You may not agree with it, but it is not and cannot be compared to holding stones or a sword and say “convert or die”
Once again, I appreciate the fact that you did your homework and selected text of scripture that appear to support your point. The text in Leviticus once again is punishment for blasphemy. This is not evangelism by the sword. This is not convert or die. This is a case of punishment.
I will grant you that you find killing in the Bible. However, the cases you quoted were more cases of punishment for crime, rather than a “convert or die” ultimatum. Actually, the cases you sited were of someone already in the covenant community or a person living in the covenant community breaking the law. Those cases would be applicable if you were comparing it to Muslims punishing other Muslims or someone who was voluntarily living in a Muslim community.
What I was originally talking about was not punishment, it was the convert or die mentality that is seen all over our world today. Indonesia is a good example as well as many African countries. I realize you may not see a distinction but there is a big difference between punishing someone for breaking laws in your community and flying a plane into a tower to kill the innocent.
Thanks for the thought provoking debate.

I will grant you that the war effort has not been managed well. However, if we went after Hitler for killing innocent life then we are obligated to go after Saddam for the same reason.
Once again, that smoke screen has nothing to do with the original point. Islam is a violent religion, and it is causing distress all over the world. So far, all you have done is slung mud at the U.S. You haven't refuted that the above texts from the Quran not only encourage violence and hate but instruct it. I guess whenever you are short on proof....just sling some mud at GW....that is pretty popular. Also, let's not forget all those Dems on capitol hill voted for the same war, and even agreed that there were WMD's.
