God Hates???

For the past several years I have seen the unrighteous, unchristian efforts of the Westboro Baptist Church. I have seen them picket my denominations annual meeting and I have seen them picket the funerals of dead preachers and dead military personnel. These people are clueless when it comes to understanding the nature of God.

I took some time to visit their website and do some background on their beliefs. The website indicates that they are aware of some theological language and terms. They are primitive baptists who believe in the "Doctrines of Grace." In other words they embrace the 5 points of Calvinism.

What I have never understood is how people who say that they embrace the Grace of God refuse to extend Grace to others. I don't buy it for a moment that they are righteously upholding standards....I don't believe that is their motivation. I believe they are promoting hate and seeking to sow seeds of division. It sickens me to see them spew "unchristlike" hate towards those who are in need of God's touch. Especially during times of tragedy. I am tired of people saying they are "Christians" but not representing Christ in a way that truly represents His character and nature.

One thing I know....the Bible does not say "God is Hate" like these people seem to be fixated on. Just look at their website. The Bible does clearly say that 'God is Love." The Bible speaks often about the love God has for an unloveable world. I am tired of people misrepresenting Christianity. I just don't know how people who are lost can see the Grace or Love of God in the beliefs or actions of these pseudo christians.
