Jerry Falwell

May 15, 2007 / by willlangford

When you say Jerry Falwell you get varied reactions from people.   I assume by now most of you are aware that Jerry Falwell past away this morning while in his office at Liberty University.

Believe it or not, I am someone who has many fond memories of Dr. Falwell over the years.  I may not have agreed with everything he did but I do have a healthy respect for his ministry and life.  So much of a respect that I asked him to write an acknowledgement for my book that is coming out soon.  And now, I am thrilled that he did and I can't wait to see it on the back of the book.

Regardless of your opinion of this man there is no dispute that he tried to influence our culture and world for Christ.  One thing that I have always respected was his passion for Christ and his strong desire to see men and women come to know Christ as their Savior.

I guess as I sit here thinking about his life this afternoon, I would hope that each of us would have a strong passion to see others come to Christ.  I would hope that each of us would have a strong passion to want to see Christ impact our culture and bless our communities.  I realize that we may disagree from time to time on strategies and tactics.  But I really respect the man or woman who will at least try to be an influencer for Christ....rather than those who sit on their backsides and criticize those who are at least trying.

Dr. Falwell...thanks for trying.

Yes I agree with you Will. I too didn't always agree with his methods but he did give it his all just like my Mom said here. His life was evident of the way he lived for Christ and you can see that the Lord was kind to him and took him home to be with quietly and quickly. To be absent from the body and present with the Lord forever more.[HEART][HEART][HEART]
